Quick Thoughts on Preseason Game #1

Here are just a few quick thoughts:

  1. What I am looking forward most in watching the game tonight is making my own judgments about the players. I have had enough of the training camp reports that I can't verify for myself. Most of those reports have been watching players in tee shirts and shorts. Time for pads and tackling!!!

  2. I am glad the Patriots drafted Mac Jones. Even if he sits until he is ready which is probably going to be the case, it is just good to be able to watch a young QB like Mac Jones in development. What I have seen that I liked so far is his quick compact throwing motion. The Patriots haven't drafted a QB in the first round since Drew Bledsoe. I am excited about watching him develop and the fact that no one really knows how this will turn out this year and in the future. Also, it is not just about this year or the next practice; it's also about the future and the Patriots have made a big commitment to him.The future is wide open for him.

  3. I am looking forward to watching the tight ends this year as compared to last year. I am hoping that Devin Asiasi plays tonight. I am hoping he can make the second year jump.

  4. I am looking forward to watching the front seven against the run. A preseason game isn’t going to tell you a lot but it was the worst part of the defense last year and any good play tonight will be encouraging. Godchaux, Adams, Barmore, and Anderson are all new additions to the defensive line. Here is hoping that the new blood will turn it around. I also will be watching to see if linebackers Uche and Jennings do well and hopefully can make second-year jumps in their play. It will also be good to see what Perkins looks like.

  5. Quinn Nordin has a big strong leg. If he can handle the pressure of making kicks when they count, he has a very good chance of starting the season as the Patriots PK.

  6. Gunner, Gunner, Gunner!!!. Can he and Harry show any kind of improvement in the passing game.
